Today, I started a WordPress.
Choosing a blog platform, starting a blog, and writing…none of these should be major undertakings for someone who likes to write and has a streak of web exhibitionism. But this decision took awhile. Twelve full hours to be exact.
I’ve been blogging in some form for years, and my current bloggy undertaking on the public front is still over on Blogger. I’m reluctant to shut that one down…yet. I kept up with it for awhile, and then life got crazy and I didn’t have time to write. When I did have time to write, I didn’t want to write. And when I finally did want to write, the cool news was old news and I no longer had anything great to say.
I’d already set the feel and flavor of that blog, if not for readers, then for myself, and it just seemed weird to turn it into something other than what it was originally meant to be: a sounding board and showcase for my various and random hobbies.
The thing about hobbies, though, is that I don’t often get to indulge them, especially right now when work has been at the forefront of everything. So what is there to write about? There’s still many things…books I’ve read, movies I’ve watched, articles I came across. Yet none of my random thoughts seemed at home in a blog meant for hobbies.
So this is a possible cure: a daily platform of anything. I’ll talk about hobbies sometimes, maybe with pictures. I’ll talk about movies. I might even talk about things that irk me. I’ll try to stay away from pointless ranting since I have a private journal for that. I’ll also try to avoid naming names and places to protect the innocent and keep the guilty from hunting me down.
Daily is a subjective word. I’m not above scheduling something ahead of time, but the ultimate goal is to get something out every day. Lofty? Yes. Attainable? Maybe. I can only figure it out as I go and hope for the best.
Follow me, contact me, subscribe (is that what the kids are calling it these days?). I’m looking forward to meeting new people, keeping in touch with old friends, and trying out a whole new feel for a blog.
A.
Thanks for stopping by my blog! Looking forward to checking in on yours!
Thank you! Okay, I feel like a turd for not commenting on your blog, but I sometimes do that weird quiet thing when I’m getting my feet wet and have nothing cool to say. But I look forward to reading more! 🙂
